The Audit Associate supports the audit team in planning, executing, and completing audit projects. This role involves examining financial records, evaluating internal controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Audit Associate will work closely with clients and team members to deliver high-quality audit services and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the audit process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Audit Planning:

    • Assist in the development of audit plans and schedules.
    • Conduct preliminary reviews of client financial statements and accounting records.
    • Participate in meetings with clients to understand business processes and identify areas of risk.
  2. Fieldwork:

    • Perform audit tests and procedures as outlined in the audit plan.
    • Analyze and verify financial information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Documentation:

    • Prepare detailed work papers to document audit findings and procedures.
    • Maintain organized and accurate records of audit activities and observations.
    • Summarize audit results and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  4. Reporting:

    • Assist in the preparation of audit reports and presentations for senior management and clients.
    • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to clients in a clear and professional manner.
    • Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations.
  5. Compliance:

    • Ensure audits are conducted in accordance with applicable auditing standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Stay updated on changes in accounting and auditing standards, as well as industry best practices.
  6. Client Relations:

    • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients.
    • Respond to client inquiries and provide support during the audit process.
    • Collaborate with clients to resolve any issues or discrepancies identified during the audit.
  7. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with audit team members to ensure efficient and effective audit execution.
    • Provide support and guidance to junior team members as needed.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of audit processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or pursuing CPA certification is preferred.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or a related field. Internship experience in audit or accounting is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and auditing standards.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good organizational and time management skills.

Work Environment:

  • This role typically operates in a professional office environment.
  • May require occasional travel to client sites.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
  • May need to lift and carry files or office supplies, up to 20 pounds.
